A guide to the treatment

Dentures,
A denture fitted without hurry, with adjustment built into the plan from the outset.

Embarrassment about missing teeth is common, and rarely mentioned aloud. It need not be, here. A denture is planned around the mouth it will serve, with impressions or scans taken across a series of visits. Once fitted, it will not feel like a natural tooth immediately, nor should it be expected to. Speaking and eating take practice, often several weeks of it, and the fit is reviewed again as that practice takes hold.

Why it is done

Dentures

01

Time, allowed deliberately

Adjustment is not rushed. Questions and small corrections have their own space in each visit.

02

Eating in company, considered

The early weeks can make shared meals feel exposed. A quieter approach, smaller portions, familiar foods, tends to help.

03

The fit, revisited over time

Pressure and pace are read at each visit and corrected, however far from the fitting date.

How it happens

A denture fitted without hurry, with adjustment built into the plan from the outset.

01

Ask first

What concerns the patient is noted before anything begins, so the visit can be shaped around it.

02

Adjust as needed

Pressure points are identified as they arise and corrected on the spot, before they become part of the daily experience of wearing it.

03

Settle in, over more than one visit

Speaking and eating are reviewed again at a follow-up visit, once practice has had time to take hold.

Questions before a decision

A denture suits anyone missing teeth, though it particularly suits someone who has delayed the conversation out of embarrassment. Comfort here is planned from the outset. A first conversation with a dentist is a reasonable place to begin.

Can the fitting be taken slowly?

Yes. A slower pace does not change what the appointment covers, only how it feels while it happens. The fee is agreed before treatment proceeds.

Will eating feel different, especially in front of others?

At first, yes. Confidence in company tends to build with practice over the following weeks.

How is the fit adjusted over time?

At each visit, or sooner if something presses or feels loose. Nothing about the adjustment changes the plan already agreed. A first conversation is where that plan is set.

How many visits does this require, and at what cost?

Both are confirmed once the case has been assessed. The fee is agreed before treatment proceeds.

An assessment, first

Nothing proceeds until it has been examined properly.

Tell the team what has changed or what concerns you. Everything else, including whether treatment is even necessary, follows only after a proper look.
