Does this whiten teeth?
It removes surface staining, tea, coffee, tobacco, and the result often reads as brighter. The underlying shade of the tooth is unchanged. Whitening is a distinct procedure.
How often is it necessary?
No fixed interval applies universally. Plaque and calculus accumulate at different rates in different mouths, and the dentist or hygienist suggests a timing based on what is observed.
Is scaling uncomfortable?
Generally manageable. Sensitive teeth or receding gums may register more. Mention this beforehand, and the technique adjusts accordingly.
Is this the same as a check-up?
No. A check-up includes an examination. A scale and polish is the clean alone, bookable independently or alongside one.
